Annual Public Meeting of the Local Waterways Partnership

Annual Partnership Meeting
Organised by the Canal & River Trust, The Kennet & Avon and Bridgwater & Taunton Partnership is holding an Annual Partnership Meeting to bring together a variety of canal users, to discuss the latest waterway news and get your ideas on how we can keep the canal safe and beneficial for us all.
Richard Parry CEO will be joining us for the official launch of the welcome boat the ‘Admiral’

Trust Council Minutes for April 2016

Trust Council met on 5th April 2016.  Trustees recorded a vote of thanks for Pauline King who had stood down as a trustee after many years valuable service.  The minutes of the meeting are available HERE

The Trust AGM took place on Saturday 14th May 2016 at West Lavington.  The draft minutes are available HERE

The Butty - Spring 2016

The Spring 2016 of our members magazine is now out.  It contains lots of news about our activities along the lovely K&A including our bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund for Crofton and progress of the new Bruce Branch.

Trust Council Minutes for March 2016

Trust Council met on 1st March.  Trustees agreed to accept the offer of a narrowboat used for youth work into the Bruce Branch fleet.  It will be used to develop community use of the K&A.

Trust Council Minutes for February 2016

Trust Council met on 2nd February.  Trustees reviewed management accounts for December 2015 and noted a satisfactory outcome above budget and with an end year cash balance of £182k.

Trustees also reviewed work on the 'Our Crofton' project and authorised branch chairman, Peter Turvey, to submit a Stage One bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund.  Details of that bid are available in the news post below.  The minutes of the meeting are available HERE.

Trust makes bid to HLF for restoration works at historic Crofton

On 25^th February, the Trust submitted a bid to the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF) for funding for essential repairs at Crofton and to develop better interpretation, activities and visitor facilities to attract a wider and more diverse audience, thus securing Crofton’s future.  The project is entitled: Our Crofton Story: its Buildings and its Peoples

Could you be our new Health & Safety Adviser ?

We're looking for a new Health & Safety Adviser to help us keep our volunteers, staff, customers and other visitors safe.  The role covers all our activities including our buildings, our 8 boats and our mighty beam engines at Crofton.  It's a varied and flexible role and provides the opportunity for someone with the right skills to enable us to carry on our wonderful work along the canal whilst maintaining our excellent safety record.  Details of the role are available HERE

Trust Council minutes for January 2016

Trust Council met on Tuesday 5th January.  It reviewed early indications of financial performance for 2015; considered the work starting up management of the Bruce Trust fleet; and work under way at Crofton over winter.  The minutes of the meeting are available HERE

The Bruce Trust Newsletter

Our partners at the Bruce Trust have published their annual newsletter.  It describes the great 2015 season getting disabled people and their families afloat.

We're now working in partnership and the marvellous volunteers of the Bruce Trust are now the Bruce Branch of the Kennet & Avon Canal Trust.  We're helping to ensure that 2016 continues the great work.
