Trust contributes to flood repairs on the Kennet & Avon

The Kennet & Avon Canal Trust has contributed £1000 towards repairs needed on the canal following the winter floods.

The river sections have suffered badly in the winter floods of 2013/14 with the River Avon suffering a flood surge on Christmas Eve and the River Kennet reaching record flows in February.  Apart from silting, there has been damage to locks and banks.  At Burghfield a section of towpath has been washed away.  The Canal & River Trust estimate that repairs will cost around £100k.

In addition to the cash contribution, the Trust has declared Sunday 25th May to be 'flood benefit day'.  On that day all ticket sales from our four public trip boats will be donated to the flood repair fund.
